The Don PX from Bodegas Toro Albalá once again thrill Parker

The wines from Bodegas Toro Albalá once again obtain Parker scores from the official taster in Spain, Mr. Luis Gutiérrez. In 2013 one of the wines from the winemaker Mr. Antonio Sánchez was valued for the first time with 100 points, now, four years later, they continue to obtain the highest rating scores.

1.     Robert Parker is the editor of the prestigious Wine Advocate magazine and considered an authority on the world of wine. His representative in Spain, Mr. Luis Gutiérrez, has been responsible for the tasting of "Spain: Current Releases from Jerez and other fortified and sweet wines from Andalusia".

In Robert Parker's magazine article, he talks about "wines of Jerez or Montilla, Sherry" as he clarifies that "they are alive and well." He celebrates that in a decade these unique wines are positioning themselves better and better in the market for their authenticity. He explains how it is increasingly common for its market value to be 80 euros or 150 euros on average. The report signals a hopeful future in the face of a new era for Andalusian wines. It alludes to the arrival of one of the most remakable winemakers in the world of sherry, Peter Sisseck, interested in limestone lands for the production of fino wines. Will he be part of the revolution that is to come?

What we do know is that the results are once again revolutionary for the house of Antonio Sánchez. An assessment must be made considering the rating of different wines. In the case of wines that have more than 96 points, they are considered Extraordinary, because they are deep, complex in their attributes and with expectations for the variety. Those wines that are between 90-96 points are those that are over the standard, exceptional wine, complex and with character. And those that score between 80-89, very good quality among average with a degree of fineness.

The scores for the wines from Bodegas Toro Albalá are as follows:

1958 Don PX Convento Selección with 97- 98 points.

1970 Don PX Convento Selección with 94-96 points.

1964 Palo Cortado Marqués de Poley with 94-96 points.

1974 Don PX Vieja Cosecha with 94 points.

1952 Amontillado Convento Palma with 93-95 points.

1988 Don PX Old Wine with 91-93 points.

Fino Eléctrico Del Lagar Saca de Primavera with 89 points.

Some tasting notes are very special. We will highlight Don PX Convento Selección 1958: “a very complex and nuanced wine with notes of charred wood, tar, coal, dark chocolate, liquorice, roasted coffee beans and aromatic herbs. The palate is compact, seamless, and a bitterness that offsets the sweetness(it has 350 grams of sugar, so it's no surprise that it doesn't feel as sweet as others). It is relatively dense, complex, rare, and unique. They hope to produce 14,200 bottles of this elixir”. Not forgetting, the one given to the Palo Cortado 1964 Convento Selección: “wines
